In 2027, El 6 Group will launch production of a new type of cathode blocks for aluminum electrolytic cells at its Novosibirsk plant. 1.2 billion rubles have been allocated for this and other investment projects. This was announced by the company's CEO, Sergey Ushakov, at the opening of the 5th conference "The Role of Carbon-Graphite Products in Industry" in Moscow. The first industrial deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2027.
Between 2020 and 2025, El 6 Group invested approximately 7.5 billion rubles in production. Specifically, it launched the only facility in the EAEU to produce large-size graphite electrodes with a diameter of 750 mm for next-generation steelmaking furnaces.
According to Ushakov, the company is focused on returning CIS manufacturers to the supplier pool in 2026. They plan to attract a carbon fiber supplier from Belarus for the production of carbon composites. Work has been stepped up on sourcing low-sulfur coke from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
"We've ordered supplies from all three suppliers and are conducting tests at plants in Chelyabinsk and Novocherkassk. I can say the preliminary results are good. We're pleased that there are raw material producers in the CIS countries that are on par with Western suppliers. This allows us to maintain a safe level of import dependence and ensure the production of consistently high-quality products for Russian metallurgists," Ushakov noted.
As a reminder, the production and technical conference "The Role of Carbon-Graphite Products in Industry" is annually organized by El 6 Group (the leading manufacturer of carbon-graphite products in the EAEU). It is the largest industry event in the CIS. This year, the conference was attended by 180 representatives from the metallurgical, carbon-graphite, oil and gas, and mechanical engineering industries, industry research institutes, and government agencies from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Belarus.
