EL 6 Company is launching a production facility for processing graphitized and carbon-graphite chips at its Chelyabinsk plant. The branch will supply CgP brand granules and Cg brand carbon-containing materials of various fractional compositions. Both products will have a high carbon content—95% and above. Among other things, the new production facility includes a carbon-containing material screening line, which will allow EL 6 to supply this product directly to steel mills and other industrial enterprises. The planned monthly production output for Cg is over 1.5 thousand tons, and 300 tons for CgP.
EL 6 Chelyabinsk plans to produce an expanded product line: three material grades (Cg-95, Cg-97, and Cg-99) and two granule grades (CgP-97 and CgP-99).
This is the first full-cycle production of carbon-containing products within the EL 6 Group. EL 6 Novosibirsk already supplies 200 tons of CgP per month to the Russian market, but the factory does not have its own fractional screening line. With the launch of production in Chelyabinsk, EL 6 will increase the volume of carbon-containing granule supplies.
According to Andrey Kruglov, General Director of EL 6 Company, the new project aims to diversify the business and meet the demand of Russian enterprises for products with consistently high carbon content.
“The first chip processing project implemented in Novosibirsk has turned out to be successful. Therefore, we decided to expand our presence in this market and launch a second production facility in a full-cycle format that includes a screening line. This will enable us to reach out to direct consumers and expand our supply geography. And, of course, it will allow us to implement a waste-free, more environmentally friendly production model. Now all waste generated after mechanical processing of products at all three of our plants will be recycled,” comments Andrey Kruglov.
The first long-term supply agreements have already been concluded with several Ural manufacturers.
According to Andrey Kruglov, the Chelyabinsk production facility has reserve capacity that will allow processing all high-carbon material generated at the Novosibirsk and Novocherkassk plants. This solution will improve the availability of materials for end customers, as their majority are steel mills located in close geographical proximity to Chelyabinsk. Meanwhile, the Novosibirsk production facility will also continue to operate.
EL 6 is the leading Russian manufacturer of carbon-graphite products. Its main line of business is the production of high-tech electrode, cathode and other carbon-graphite products for enterprises in the steel, aluminum, ferroalloy, silicon and chemical industries. The company includes three production sites: EL 6 Novosibirsk, EL 6 Chelyabinsk, and EL 6 Novocherkassk.
